Title: Drupal Chat Room Session Hijacking and Information Disclosure Vulnerabilities

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Drupal Chat Room is chat-room module for the Drupal content management system; it is implemented in PHP.

The application is prone to multiple remote vulnerabilities:

- A session-hijacking vulnerability. Specifically, this issue is due to a design flaw when the application broadcasts session IDs of chat-room visitors to all members of the chat room.

- An information-disclosure vulnerability. Specifically, the application displays private messages in the 'last message' section that is accessible by all members of the chat room.

An attacker can exploit these issues to gain access to the affected application with the privileges of the hijacked user and can obtain sensitive information. This may lead to other attacks.

All prerelease versions of Chat Room are vulnerable to this issue.

Affected Products:

  • Drupal Chatroom 4.7.0-1.0-dev
