Title: BusyBox HTTPD Directory Traversal Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

BusyBox is a Linux utility designed to implement the functionality of 'fileutils' and 'shellutils' binaries.

The httpd daemon of BusyBox is prone to a directory-traversal vulnerability. The application fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input of URL-encoded directory-traversal sequences ('../').

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to retrieve arbitrary files from the vulnerable system in the context of the affected application. Information obtained may aid in further attacks.

This issue affects version 1.01; other versions may also be vulnerable.

Affected Products:

  • BusyBox Linux Utilities 1.01
